KIME SPORTS PHYSICAL THERAPY SCHOLARSHIP

Purpose:
To support future leaders in sports medicine by providing financial assistance to a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) student who demonstrates a strong commitment to practicing sports medicine and advancing the field.


Award Amount: $2,500

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in the United States.
  • Demonstrates a clear interest and commitment to practicing in the field of sports medicine.
  • Maintains good academic standing (minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent).
  • Open to all DPT students at any stage of their doctoral program.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following:

  1. Application Form:
    A detailed form capturing personal, academic, and professional information.

  2. Resume/CV:
    Highlighting academic achievements, internships, clinical experiences, and relevant sports medicine projects.

  3. Personal Essay (500–750 Words)

    Choose ONE of the following prompts to showcase your vision, values, and commitment to the field of sports physical therapy:

    1. "Bridging the Gap Between Rehab and Performance: My Vision as a Sports Physical Therapist"
      Discuss how you plan to close the often-missed gap between rehabilitation and return-to-play performance, and your approach to helping athletes transition from injury to peak condition.

    2. "The Movement System as Medicine: How I Will Empower Athletes to Heal and Thrive"
      Reflect on how movement and biomechanics can be used as proactive tools for healing and resilience, and how you’ll apply this philosophy in your future practice.

    3. "From Injury to Identity: Supporting the Whole Athlete in Physical Therapy"
      Explore the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of injury. How will you help athletes rebuild not only their strength, but also their confidence, identity, and purpose?

  4. Proof of Enrollment:
    A letter or transcript from the DPT program verifying enrollment and GPA.

  5. Two Letters of Recommendation:

    • One from a faculty member in the DPT program.
    • One from a professional in the field of physical therapy or sports medicine (e.g., mentor, supervisor, or clinical instructor).
  6. Optional Submission:

    • Portfolio showcasing relevant projects, publications, or research in sports medicine.

  • Academic and professional achievements.
  • Passion and commitment to the field of sports medicine.
  • Innovation and vision as described in the personal essay.
  • Strength of recommendations and leadership potential.
